DNS

Purpose

The Domain Name System will be used for identifying the IP address of the website.

How DNS Work?

The DNS will work on converting the domain name of the website into an IP address inside the operating system.

DNS queries

DNS Query is known as the DNS request where it is used to send the request of the DNS by the user which is the DNS client to a DNS server.
- Request of information (website) from the user PC to the server.

Recursive

Recursive query is when the DNS client is requesting the domain name, and then the DNS server will either respond an appropriate records of website or error messages if its not found.
- Direct-responds
- the client request and server respond immediately.
Iterative 

 Iterative query is when the DNS client is requesting the domain name, and then the DNS server will respond the most appropriate resource for the client.
- Responds answer (website) without querying other DNS server.
- Request the domain name

Non-recursive

Non-recursive query is the DNS server knows the requested website immediately as the domain name of the website is already stored inside the local cache. it is already saved inside the PC.
- Example on the website history where the website is already visited.

 DNS servers

DNS  server is used to manage, maintain and process which all of the website that are the domain names and IP addresses are stored inside the server.
Example of the DNS is like the phone book.

DNS Resolver

DNS resolver is used for converting the domain name of the website into an IP address where it tracks the IP address of the website.
Resolver is the one who locates and tracks/find domain name of the website.
The one who in charge on locating
DNS Root Server

DNS root server is a server which provides the details of the domain name that are operated in the DNS zone.
Root server will be used to convert the domain name into the IP address.
Once the domain name is found by the DNS resolver, the root server will take action on converting the domain name into an IP address.
Authoritative Name Server

Authoritative name server is a server that provides the real IP address for the DNS queries which are already been installed inside the configuration system.
- Authoritative will be store the data and information in the server. All the update will be save in the authoritative name server.
The one that save all the update websites.

DNS records

DNS records is where the information (IP address, Domain Name)  is being kept, saved and stored. Its the same like the DNS server but in this DNS records will stored different types of records.

1. Address Mapping Record (A Record)

 - It is known as the DNS host record and it is used for storing the IP address of the computer device and also IPv4 address.
