Network Protocols & Standards

TCP/IP
Known as Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol.
Commonly used network protocol worldwide.
It provides a connection for communication between two clients using two data streams.
TCP has to establish a connection channel with the target node.
It make sure that the file is send and receive successfully and also if not successful, it will send error message.


UDP
User Datagram Protocol
Provides one to one communication
Unreliable communication device

AppleTalk
Used for Apple IOS and Macintosh OS.

802.2 ( Logical Link Control )
Known as Logical Link Control layer where is used to understand the data link layer.
The purpose is to translate the message.

802.3 (Ethernet)
Used Network Interface Card (NIC) to connect the PC to the Internet.

FDDI
Fiber Distributive Data Interface
Used 2 rings, Primary and Secondary.
Primary - Anticlockwise
Secondary - Clockwise

Purpose - Sending messages is faster and if one ring is broken, can used another ring.

802.5 (Token Passing)
Token ring is use in the ring topology and utilizes a token to control the transmission of data on the network.
